it helps some times Here's a possible implementation based on .exec:
code :
function split_with_offset(str, re) {
    if (!re.global) {
        throw "no no no no :(";
    }
    let results = [];
    let m, p;
    while (p = re.lastIndex, m = re.exec(str)) {
        results.push([str.substring(p, m.index), p]);
    }
    results.push([str.substring(p), p]);
    return results;
}

console.log(split_with_offset("bla blabla haha", /\s+/g));
console.log(split_with_offset("   ", /\s+/g));
console.log(split_with_offset("", /\s+/g));

like below fixes the issue Use Python's regular expression module:
code :
>>> import re
>>> re.split(r'(\w+)', '(a1 b2 c3)')
['(', 'a1', ' ', 'b2', ' ', 'c3', ')']
>>> re.findall(r'\W+|\w+', '(a1 b2 c3)')
['(', 'a1', ' ', 'b2', ' ', 'c3', ')']
>>> re.split(r'([^\(\) ]+)', '(a1 b2 c3)')
['(', 'a1', ' ', 'b2', ' ', 'c3', ')']

hope this fix your issue I have a string that I need to split on a given index and then return both parts, seperated by a comma. For example: , Try this
code :
function splitValue(value, index) {
    return value.substring(0, index) + "," + value.substring(index);
}

console.log(splitValue("3123124", 2));

wish of those help How could you split a string at index 0 of all sublists into separate elements, and have each of the split elements be contained within a copy of the original sublist? , I think it's clearest written out as explicit loops:
code :
Desired_List = []

for li in Original_List:
    for spl in li[0].split(','):
        Desired_List.append([spl] + li[1:])
Desired_List
Out[153]:
[['a', 'c', 'd', 'e', 'f'],
 ['b', 'c', 'd', 'e', 'f'],
 ['1', '2', '3'],
 ['z', '1', '2'],
 ['y', '1', '2']]
[[spl] + li[1:] for li in Original_List for spl in li[0].split(',')]

I wish this help you See whether this code helps
(?<=[\w\d\s.]|^)[\w\d\s.].{0,3}[\w\d\s.](?=[\w\d\s.]|$)
code :
import java.util.regex.Matcher;
import java.util.regex.Pattern;

final String regex = "(?<=[\\w\\d\\s.]|^)[\\w\\d\\s.].{0,3}[\\w\\d\\s.](?=[\\w\\d\\s.]|$)";
final String string = "Just a sa'mple 'String.";

final Pattern pattern = Pattern.compile(regex, Pattern.MULTILINE);
final Matcher matcher = pattern.matcher(string);

while (matcher.find()) {
    System.out.println("Full match: " + matcher.group(0));
    for (int i = 1; i <= matcher.groupCount(); i++) {
        System.out.println("Group " + i + ": " + matcher.group(i));
    }
}
Full match: Just
Full match: a s
Full match: a'mpl
Full match: e 'St
Full match: ring.

will help you Calling split will not modify the value of headingslist but return a List. So you can either assign the result to list directly or use list.addAll to add all elements of the result to the list. Note that add would add the List itself as a new element to the List. So you would end up with a List that contains one element that is a List.
code :
def headingslist = "URN|BATCHID|CUST_URN|CUSTOMER_NAME|POSTCODE|PERSONKEY|MOBILENUMBER||PREMIUM|STATUS"
ArrayList list = headingslist.split("\\|")

int indexMobNo = list.indexOf("MOBILENUMBER")
int indexURN = list.indexOf("PERSONKEY")
