wish helps you Adding Abstract to the name of the class is a simple way to designate that this class is abstract (declared as public abstract class in your case). This means that this class was developed to incorporate some common functionality which will be reused by several child classes. Also there are such classes in JDK itself like java.util.AbstractList
You can find more information about concept of abstract classes here https://www.journaldev.com/1582/abstract-class-in-java

seems to work fine I believe the answer is "yes", simply because it's possible to advise interfaces. Interfaces are pure abstract methods, so it should be possible.
As for the amount of configuration, it'll take what it takes. I don't know whether XML or annotations will work for you, but you'll only have to advise the interface or abstract class. Classes that implement or extend get the advice without additional effort

I wish this helpful for you It is unnecessary to annotate your AbstractExternalController class with the @Controller anntation, although, leaving it there will not break anything. Regardless of whether or not you have the @Controller annotation, you certainly can have the method annotations, and they will work. Your ExternalControllerXXX extending it will be added to the application context (because it is annotated with a streotype annotation), and the @ExceptionHandler and @ResponseStatus annotations will be honored.

code :
yourAppName.controller('myController' , [$http , $scope , function($http , $scope)
{
 var paramValue = [];
 paramValue['par'] = $scope.someValue;
$http.get('rest/getdata' , {params : paramValue}).success(function(data)
{
   $scope.myData = data;

}).error(function(data)
{
   console.log('error occured');

});

}]);
@RequestMapping(value ="/getdata",method = RequestMethod.GET , params = "par")
public @ResponseBody
List<Profissoes> getProfissoes(@RequestMapping("par") long value)  {
        System.out.println("Value "+value);
        // use it further the way u want

like below fixes the issue As M.Deinum pointed out: From what ive deducted after extending this abstract controller you have something like this:
code :
@Override
ConnectionResult checkConnection(String connectionName) throws ConnectionException, ParameterInvalidException, StatusApiException; {
     // logic
}
@Override
ConnectionResult checkConnection(@PathVariable("connectionName") String connectionName) throws ConnectionException, ParameterInvalidException, StatusApiException; {
     // logic
}
