it helps some times Ah, I see, checkout JDF-70: "Classloading issues on Wildfly 8 Beta 1"
It's been fixed in version 3.1.0.CR10 and I've just deployed fine with that. Problem solved (for me).

like below fixes the issue bytea_output tells the format of bytea content in output columns, not when submitted as part of a SQL statement. As you guessed, it's probably not relevant here.
However, what may be relevant is the fact standard_conforming_strings has been set ON by default with PG 9.1 (I don't think it even existed in 7.4) so you can no longer use backslash to escape a single quote inside a literal.

it helps some times its working for me, not working query if write procedure/function, i write direct code behind
code :

                NpgsqlCommand command = new NpgsqlCommand("SELECT profile_pic FROM userlog WHERE cust_id = '" + CustID + "'", conn);
                Byte[] result = (Byte[])command.ExecuteScalar();
                if(result.Length > 0)
                    ProfilePicture = Convert.ToBase64String(result);
                    ErrorNumber = 0;
                    ErrorMessage = "Successful operation";
                    ErrorNumber = 1;

I think the issue was by ths following , It looks like you actually have org.joda.time.DateTime objects serialized to byte arrays and stored as such in the database (which is a TERRIBLE way to store dates). You just need to deserialize those arrays back to DateTime objects. Here's some proof of concept code using your example value:
code :
import java.io.ByteArrayInputStream;
import java.io.ObjectInput;
import java.io.ObjectInputStream;

import javax.xml.bind.DatatypeConverter;

import org.joda.time.DateTime;

public class SerialTest {
    public static void main(final String... args) throws Exception {
        final String s = "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";
        final byte[] bytes = DatatypeConverter.parseHexBinary(s);
        // you would probably use bytes = resultSet.getBytes("acquire_Date") to get the byte array

        final ByteArrayInputStream bis = new ByteArrayInputStream(bytes);
        final ObjectInput in = new ObjectInputStream(bis);
        final DateTime dt = (DateTime) in.readObject();

it should still fix some issue I suspect that Hibernate is trying to use the "large object" method with PostgreSQL, which involves storing an OID "handle" to the file in the table. Some example reading: http://virgo47.wordpress.com/2008/06/13/jpa-postgresql-and-bytea-vs-oid-type/
If you want to stick with just using a bytea column (and this is considerably simpler to work with on the SQL side), use BinaryType to map the column. See: proper hibernate annotation for byte[]

I wish this helpful for you You can try to convert your bytea to actual text with convert_from(string bytea, src_encoding name).
Then cast text to XML and use xpath to get your value.
