Trying to read from scanner using a constant string delimiter - java.util.scanner

Trying to read from scanner using a constant string delimiter - java.util.scanner

Hope this helps
The delimiter includes meta-characters, and I'm trying to split ONLY where it appears, so regex is not suitable.

around this issue Allocate the Scanner at the start of your code, not each time through the loop:
code :
int level = 1;
Scanner reader = new Scanner(System.in);
String selection = null;

while (true) {
    if (data.done) {

    data.done = false;
    System.out.println(getSubmenu(level, data));

    if (level <6) {
        selection = reader.nextLine();
    } else {
        level = 4;

    if (validSelection(selection)) {
        level = getLevel(level, selection);
        data = getData(level, data, selection);
    } else {
        System.out.println("Invalid entry");

    if (data == null) {
        System.out.println("Level "+ level + "selection " + selection);
        break; // exit command was typed
Is there any in-memory scanner which is similar to java.util.Scanner for reading a line of string?

like below fixes the issue Why use Scanner at all? Scanner, CharsetDecoder, etc, are all going to be slow.
Especially if all you are reading is ASCII, you don't really need any of that.
code :
byte[] bytes = new byte[(int)file.length()];

FileInputStream in = new FileInputStream(file);

char[] text = new char[bytes.length];
for (int i = 0; i < bytes.length; i++) {
    text[i] = (char)(bytes[i] & 0xFF);

for (String line : new String(text).split("\n")) {
StringBuilder line = new StringBuilder(1024);
FileInputStream in = new FileInputStream(file);

int next;

boolean lb = true;

while ((next = in.read()) != -1) {

    if (next == 0xD || next == 0xA) {

        // skip if there are multiple line breaks
        if (lb) continue;

        lb = true;

        // avoid new object creations
        line.delete(0, line.length());

    } else {

        lb = false;

should help you out When you enter a wrong input, it goes in the catch but the input is still here, so z= s1.nextInt(); throws another exception which is not catched and it crashes
So you need to read the input in the catch, to clear the scanner :
code :
} catch (Exception e) {
    System.out.println("Input error: You have entered wrong input");
    System.out.println("Please restart the program");
System.out.print("Please Enter The First Number: ");
double numb1 = s1.nextDouble();
System.out.print("Please Enter The Second Number: ");
double numb2 = s1.nextDouble();
double res;
String operation = "";

switch (choice) {
    case 1:
        res = f.sum(numb1, numb2);
        operation = "Sum";
    case 2:
        res = f.subtract(numb1, numb2);
        operation = "Substraction";
    case 3:
        res = f.multiply(numb1, numb2);
        operation = "Multiplication";
    case 4:
        res = f.divide(numb1, numb2);
        operation = "Divison";
        res = 0;
        System.out.println("Please Enter a Valid Choice from 1 to 4");

System.out.println("The " + operation + " Of Two Numbers is: " + res);
