wrong values being pushed into a Javascript array

it should still fix some issue When you assign an item at a specific index of an array and that index is outside of the length of the array, the length is adjusted after that index.
When you assign the average to average[i] and i is around 2000, it will make the array have a length of around 2000 although most items in the array are undefined.
code :
var average = Array();
$.each(data, function() {
  var sum = 0;
  for(var i = 0; i < this.tennisballs.length; ++i){
    sum += parseFloat(this.tennisballs[i][2]);
    if(i == (this.tennisballs.length - 1) ) {
      average.push(sum / this.tennisballs.length);
      console.log("sum: " + sum + ", average["+(average.length-1)+"]: " + average[average.length-1]);
    }
  }
});
console.log("average array:" + average);
var average = Array();
$.each(data, function() {
  var sum = 0;
  for(var i = 0; i < this.tennisballs.length; ++i){
    sum += parseFloat(this.tennisballs[i][2]);
  }
  average.push(sum / this.tennisballs.length);
  console.log("sum: " + sum + ", average["+(average.length-1)+"]: " + average[average.length-1]);
});
console.log("average array:" + average);

Any of those help You should create a new object and copy the data from rec to it. And then push the new object to the array. Otherwise it will only keep the reference to the 'rec' variable and that's why you always get the last element.

hope this fix your issue I have a Node.Js web app with Express.Js that reads values from xml files, store values from all xml files into an array with sub-array represent the separation of per xml file. At the moment, I have the following code on the Node: , You can use native promises for that:
code :
Promise.all(files.map(
    filename => new Promise(ok => load(filename, request => ok(request)))
)).then(requests => callback(requests));
let loadAll = files => Promise.all(files.map(load));
let load = filename => {/*return some promise with result*/}
let c = files.length; // initialize a counter
files.forEach(filename => {
    var software_request = new Array();
    loadSoftwareRequestXML(filename, software_request, function(software_request){
        all_software_requests.push(software_request);
        if(!--c) { // all async calls are finished
          callback(all_software_requests);
        }
    });
});

seems to work fine
Doc from MDN
code :
var test = [{
  id: 1,
  value: 2
}];
var newe = test.map((x) => x.value).reduce(function(total, sum) {
  return total + (sum * 2);
}, 0);
// ^
// |
// +---- InitialValue

console.log(newe);
.as-console-wrapper { max-height: 100% !important; top: 0; }

wish helps you You need to update your arrays when a new input arrives, I have wrapped this update procedure on a function and called it after the a new input is pushed on arrToCheck. Also I have simplified the logic used by the switch ... case block.
code :
var arrToCheck = [];
var ones = [], twos = [], threes = [];

function updateFilters()
{
    ones = arrToCheck.filter(function(x) { return x == 1; });
    twos = arrToCheck.filter(function(x) { return x == 2; });
    threes = arrToCheck.filter(function(x) { return x == 3; });
}

function checkLength(input)
{
    length = input.length;

    if (length && length <= 3)
        arrToCheck.push(length);
    else
        console.log ("length too long")

    updateFilters();
}

// Main code:

checkLength("AA");
checkLength("AAA");
checkLength("AAAA");
checkLength("A");

console.log(
    JSON.stringify(ones),
    JSON.stringify(twos),
    JSON.stringify(threes)
);

checkLength("AA");
checkLength("AAA")

console.log(
    JSON.stringify(ones),
    JSON.stringify(twos),
    JSON.stringify(threes)
);
