Unknown Code Error involving Python float(sys.argv[1])

fixed the issue. Will look into that further I believe you are running your code within the interpreter, either using an IDE or the python prompt. This will not work as sys.argv relies on calling the program from the terminal command line. When I do so your code works correctly,
code :
[myself@localhost ~]$ python f2c.py 12
12 degrees farenheit is equal to -11.1111111111 degrees Celsius.
#!/usr/bin/env python

import sys
f = int(sys.argv[1])
print (f, "degrees farenheit is equal to", )
print (5.0/9*(f - 32), "degrees Celsius.")
chmod +x f2c.py
[myself@localhost ~]$ ./f2c.py 12
12 degrees farenheit is equal to -11.1111111111 degrees Celsius.

fixed the issue. Will look into that further I wrote a simple love program in which for every vowel the user scores points that are the outputted at the end. There is an unknown error in the code and I am unable to notice this so if someone could point this out to me I'd be grateful.
code :
["a","e","i","o",u"] <- missing opening quote  around `u`
["a","e","i","o","u"]
Code is written to support multiple arguments, but fails when only one argument is given. sys.argv[1] + sys.argv[2]

should help you out This is a good use-case for slicing. You want everything after the first argument in the list, so as a slice this translates to [1:]. So just use:
code :
word = ''.join(sys.argv[1:])
>>> args = ['scriptname.py', 'the']
>>> ''.join(args[1:])
'the'
>>> args = ['scriptname.py', 'self', 'control']
>>> ''.join(args[1:])
'selfcontrol'

Hope this helps I have spent lot of manhours on this small trivial issue. The real issue is that Open CV will work only with the Haarcascade XML files, which are available on the Opencv.org website and not from the github

I wish this helpful for you I can't convert a string passed throug command line to a function to float.
code :
cmd = 'docker run --rm -v pathFunction:/home/fenics/shared -w /home/fenics/shared quay.io/fenicsproject/stable "python2 function.py ' + first_arg + str(second_arg)
cmd = 'docker run --rm -v pathFunction:/home/fenics/shared -w /home/fenics/shared quay.io/fenicsproject/stable "python2 function.py ' + first_arg + ' ' + str(second_arg)
cmd = 'docker run --rm -v pathFunction:/home/fenics/shared -w /home/fenics/shared quay.io/fenicsproject/stable "python2 function.py ' + first_arg + ' ' + str(second_arg) + '"'

hop of those help? The problem is that the formatting to hexadecimals is not provided for strings, which are used to represent a single character / byte in your code. Actually, you should use integers to represent bytes, and integer arrays to represent multiple bytes where each integer is in the range 0..255 inclusive.
Strings in Python are fortunately used for text, consisting of characters rather than bytes, and they should not be used to represent bytes. If your cryptographic algorithm inputs / output bytes (which is the commonly the case if you use XOR) then strings should not be used other than for reporting / debugging purposes.
